After 0940 Virgin flight direct to Darwin from Sydney we
arrived in Darwin just after noon. The flight was smooth with visibility
excellent leaving Sydney. Clear skies over north-western NSW, Qld and parts of NT.
The Warrumbungle’s range was visible from the air. Many of river systems in Qld
and NT were well defined. At the Holiday Inn Darwin it was into pool for a
quick dip. After unpacking the bike, a cold beer and shower we explored the waterfront. A series of
pathways wind through the waterfront area near the hotels. There are plenty of
park lookouts and monuments (mainly WWII). Then to Shennanigans Hotel for a Guinness
and Irish stew. After a wander around the streets of Darwin we returned to
hotel to watch the prologue stage of the TDF at hotel and fell asleep before we
were able to see Cadel ride.
